DPI Brief — May 3, 2026

Today’s DPI Updates (7 Layers)

L1: Identity & Authentication

Aadhaar services continue to support key government initiatives. UIDAI maintains its core authentication infrastructure through MyAadhaar portal and mAadhaar app, enabling eKYC, VID generation, and authentication history tracking. The system supports 12-digit random Aadhaar numbers with biometric verification and offers paperless offline e-KYC through digitally signed XML files1.

L2: Payments & Financial Rails

UPI transaction infrastructure remains robust, supporting high-volume payment flows during peak periods. RuPay cards continue to power digital transactions across retail and digital platforms, including IPL match-day sponsorships2.

L3: Documents & Data Exchange

Census-2027 Digital Self-Enumeration Launched - Delhi and Mumbai governments have rolled out online self-enumeration portals for India’s 2027 census, marking a significant digitisation milestone. Residents can now log in to designated portals, submit personal details digitally, and complete census forms without enumerator visits3. This initiative leverages digital identity infrastructure to enhance transparency and efficiency in one of India’s largest administrative exercises.

L4: Commerce & Logistics

Government e-Marketplace (GeM) shows continued high-volume procurement activity. Multiple procurement contracts were posted in May 2026 across categories including LED signage, tax forms, LED ATCs, and panchayat specifications4. These transactions demonstrate the DPI ecosystem’s operational maturity in government procurement workflows.

L5: Sectoral Infrastructure

ABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) infrastructure continues to support health ID services, enabling interoperable health records across healthcare providers. The sectoral DPI stack supports ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) creation and linking to health facilities5.

L6: Governance & Grievance

Census-2027 self-enumeration represents a major digital governance milestone. The initiative allows citizens to digitally participate in the national population count, reducing enumeration costs and improving data accuracy. Lieutenant Governor of Delhi emphasized that the online system would enhance transparency and efficiency3.

L7: Security, Privacy & Trust

CERT-In maintains continuous cyber threat monitoring across India’s digital infrastructure. The cybersecurity agency coordinates with sectoral DPI implementations to ensure secure authentication, data exchange, and payment rails6.
